There are both days of war and tournaments in Cudgel. The schedule will be published 2-4 weeks before the event starts, and it is advisable to check the dates and especially times just before the event or after arrival to site.
Tourneys are fought in a smallish tourney field, mostly one-to-one. Nordic 1000 is a long series of tourneys where you collect points over many years, and it's fighting for real. The Pirate Tourney is a more playful tourney where the fighters may for example use unusual weapons. The Lady of Peacock (or the Lady of the Lake or something similar) is a Pas d'Armes or a "fancy" tourney with all the pomp and circumstance. The Unbelted Tourney is for those fighters who aren't knights, that is, who don't wear a white belt.
The wars are fought in a field or even a forest in a lot bigger area. At Cudgel War the two groups meeting at war are peasants and nobles. You are welcome to go and watch the wars, but it may help to find someone who can explain to you what's going on if you are not so familiar with heavy fighting. If you plan to stand by the edge of the field and watch, you can offer to work as a water bearer, taking care that the fighters stay hydrated. Water bearers are always needed!
