Come one, come all! Enjoy the bright northern nights and beautiful lakeside at the most relaxing and entertaining event in the Known World. Ten days of camping, exciting classes and workshops, chivalrous tournaments, archery, excellent company, and that magical atmosphere of the Northern Summer nights… That’s what Cudgel War is all about.
The event opens on Friday, July 3rd, 2026, at 14:00 (2 p.m.) and closes on Sunday, July 12, 2026,26 at 12:00 (noon). The event site is Kavalahti campsite in Inkoo, Finland, the same site as for previous Cudgels.
The event is mainly a tent camp. The medieval tents will be on the grassy area in the middle of the camp and on a nearby field. There are forest camping areas for mundane tents on the outskirts of the camping area. This year, anyone wishing to camp in the medieval camp in a group must choose a land agent among the group members. The land agent will be the contact person for your entire group in matters concerning camping, e.g. tent size. When registering you will pick your medieval camp from the list of options in the form. Those with one single tent (that can be placed anywhere in the medieval area) and those with mundane tents do not register as land agents.
The event also has indoor accommodation in cabins and a dormitory.
The site has drinkable running water and WCs in two outbuildings, but there are no facilities in the indoor accommodation buildings. The showers are in the sauna building by the beach.
The site is built on a hillside which can be challenging for people with reduced mobility. The disabled toilet is located behind the kitchen, about 200 meters from the indoor sleeping space, and the route includes a slope. The only way to get to the showers is to navigate the sauna stairs (unless the soon-to-be-finished new sauna building has a ramp, we don’t know yet), and all the paths are gravel, not paved.
The site address is Björnvikintie 109, 10230 Inkoo asema, and the site is located near Inkoo village in Finland. About an hour from Helsinki by car, 70 minutes from the airport, and 90 minutes from Turku. Train link (this year most likely again train + rail replacement bus) from Helsinki airport to Karjaa train station takes 1.5-2 hrs. Foreign visitors can be picked up and dropped off at Karjaa station, each ride costs 10 € per person. If you require transportation from and to Karjaa train station, you need to book the ride when registering.
See the travel page for more information about getting to Cudgel War.
Two meals are served daily: a brunch during the morning and a cooked dinner in the evening. With one less meal prepared than last year, the kitchen has been able to increase the number of meals to serve. On Monday evening, all attendees on site then are served some food at the Pirate party. A Banquet will be served on Wednesday for a maximum of 130 guests. On the second Friday there will be a simpler Feast that all attendees can book.
We may be unable to serve meals or feast for everyone due to the small kitchen, so please reserve early if you want the meals.
All meals are made lactose free. There will also be a vegetarian option, but you must choose it when registering. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide meals for people with any other allergies or dietary requirements. Note that there is always a risk of contamination because all the meals are prepared in one single small kitchen. There’s also a smaller second kitchen available to those who want to cook for themselves and cannot bring a camp kitchen.
The site is ”damp” so preferably only mild alcoholic beverages. Smoking (including vaping) is allowed only in the designated spots.
Pets are only allowed outdoors. Within the camp dogs must be leashed at all times. (The Finnish Hunting Act requires that March to August dogs must be always kept on a leash when outdoors, or kept so that they may be immediately put on a leash.)
Site owner’s rules stipulate that sheets are mandatory in indoor beds, even when sleeping in a sleeping bag. There are no sheets or towels on site, you need to bring them yourself.
Fire is only allowed on designated common and safely built camp fireplaces. Fire is not allowed anywhere indoors without permission from the steward. If there’s a fire warning in effect, no fires, including torches, are allowed.
There must be a fire extinguisher in every tent in the medieval camping areas. Mundane tents in the forest are exempt.
The guardians are always responsible for the underaged participants! Please note that in the evening alcohol may be drunk in and around the sauna building or the banqueting area by the field and that it may not be an appropriate environment for minors at that time.
Children must have a designated adult watching them when swimming.
While paddling, everyone must wear a life vest. Paddlers must write down their planned route and schedule on the list by beach. Paddling alone is not allowed!
Land agent registration is open during April 15-20, 2026. At this stage, only the land agent’s contact information and the name of the camp are needed. However, prepare to give tent measurements and other requirements to the event stewards when asked later. A link to land agent registration will appear on event homepages when the registration opens.
Participant registration opens on April 28th, 2026, at 18:00 (6 p.m.) Finnish time (EEST / Eastern European Summer Time / UTC+3). Payment happens when you register through Fienta. A link to the registration system will appear on event homepages when registration starts.
If you register multiple people through Fienta, you will be required to fill a Google Form you receive a link for in the confirmation message to give us the information of the other people you have registered. We need the information of every attendant separately. Due to the separate form, registering several people through Fienta is a bit complicated. Hence, we encourage and kindly ask all who can register themselves to do so.
Please note that we try to take into consideration the wishes of accommodation for those registered before June 12, 2026. People registered after that will be assigned accommodation wherever there’s still space suitable for their chosen accommodation type (period camping, mundane camping, or indoor accommodation).
All accommodation needs to be pre-booked, but day tripping can be done without it.
Site fee is paid for every day you attend. On top of that, you can choose to buy meals and indoor accommodation (and transportation, if you qualify for it) as long as they are available.
